How to Live Stream on a Facebook Group without Admin Rights?

Facebook Group Streaming without Admin Rights

You need admin rights on a Facebook group if you want to connect it in OneStream Live dashboard and live stream on it. If you have admin rights, connect the group with OneStream Live and schedule streams on it.

However, if you are only a group member, the only way to live stream on the group is by using custom RTMP streaming.

Open OneStream Live dashboard and click Add Social Platform.

Select Custom RTMP.

Enter any name of the social account and select Facebook under Choose Platform.

Visit https://www.facebook.com/live/create.

From the left-hand sidebar, select Share in a group and click on Create live video event > Create Event.

In the left-hand sidebar, enter event details including Event name, date & time, privacy and description.

Click on Next.

In the left-hand column, click on Settings > Stream.

Copy persistent stream key from the right side window. (However, if you plan to stream on multiple groups then keep this value unchecked.)

Persistent stream key, as the name suggests, does not change. That means once you have it, you can stream on it over and over again. However, all your Facebook groups and your profile have the same persistent key. This means if you want to stream on multiple Facebook Groups at the same time you must uncheck persistent key. When stream key is not persistent it is only valid for a single stream. Every time you want to stream, you must get a new stream key and configure it in OneStream Live. Unfortunately, there is no other way if you want to stream on multiple Facebook groups using custom RTMP.

Click on Create Event.

Click on Set up Live Video.

In the left-hand sidebar, make sure that Complete post details check box is green.

Scroll down and toggle on Go Live automatically at scheduled start time.

Click on Save changes .

Copy Stream Key from Facebook Live Producer and paste in OneStream custom RTMP social account settings.

Click Connect.

Once the Custom RTMP account is connected, schedule pre-recorded videos or go live in Real-time on that Custom RTMP social account via OneStream Live.

Live stream must be scheduled between 10 minutes and 7 days (168 hours) from when you create them directly on Facebook.

The stream will go live on the Facebook event at the set date & time automatically.

Schedule the stream in OneStream Live dashboard by setting up the time to be 1 minute after the scheduled time on Facebook. For example, if you have scheduled video on Facebook at 10:00, set the scheduled time in OneStream Live to be 10:01. This is to prevent any stream cut at the beginning of the video due to a slight time difference between Facebook's and your computer's clock.

If you want to go live immediately, then you should not schedule the video on facebook.com/live/create page, but rather stay on that page and schedule the video from OneStream Live dashboard. Once the video appears in Facebook, click Go Live at the bottom right corner. Just scheduling it from the OneStream Live dashboard will not send it as live in the group in this case.
