Last updated on Aug 05, 2026

Poor audio quality making your stream sound bad? Learn how to troubleshoot common issues such as echo, background noise, clicking sounds, and distortion to deliver clear, professional audio and a better viewing experience. Here’s how to fix it.

Check your settings

  • Click the gear ⚙️ icon under your stream preview in OneStream Live.

  • Go to Audio

  • In the Audio section, turn on all of the given three audio settings for better audio gain.

Run an external test

  • Record your audio externally using this website.

  • Compare the quality between Studio and the external tool.

  • If the problem persists on both, it's likely an equipment issue. Consider consulting your hardware manufacturer.

  • If the external recording is fine, proceed with the checks below.

Check your browser

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of your browser.

  • Disable unnecessary browser extensions or ad blockers that may interfere with Studio.

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies.

  • Try using an Incognito/Private window.

  • If the issue persists, try another browser. Google Chrome is recommended for OneStream Live Studio.

Check Your Audio Devices

  • Make sure your microphone is securely connected.

  • If using Bluetooth headphones or microphones, check the battery level and connection.

  • Disconnect and reconnect your external microphone.

  • Make sure the correct microphone is selected in Studio and your computer's system settings.

  • Keep your microphone away from speakers to prevent feedback.

  • If possible, test with another microphone or headset.

Check Your Internet Connection

An unstable internet connection may affect the quality of your live broadcast.

  • Run a Speed Test: Check your upload speed. We recommend at least 10 Mbps, with an ideal speed of over 25 Mbps.

  • If possible, use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi.

  • Close applications that consume significant bandwidth.

  • Avoid running large downloads or uploads during your broadcast.

Check Your System Performance

High CPU usage can affect your Studio session and overall broadcast performance.

  • Start your Studio session or recording.

  • On Windows, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and open Task Manager.

  • On Mac, open Activity Monitor.

  • Check your CPU usage while Studio is running.

If CPU usage is consistently 80% or higher:

  • Close unnecessary applications and browser tabs.

  • Keep your laptop connected to power.

  • Restart your computer.

  • Reduce your stream resolution.

  • Disable unnecessary Studio features or visual effects.

  • If the issue continues, consider using a device with greater processing power.

If the issue continues after completing these steps, contact OneStream Live Support for further assistance.
